Ben Usen, a graduate of the University of Albany with degrees in US History and English, has carved a remarkable path in the culinary world since 1995. His journey began in Richmond, VA, where he honed his skills in carpentry and restaurant roles, leading him to pursue formal culinary training at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, graduating in 1998.
Ben's culinary expertise flourished in New Orleans, working under the guidance of Emeril Lagasse's Sous Chef at Commander's Palace and later at Bayona in the French Quarter. In 2000, he returned to Buffalo, managing the Albright Knox Art Gallery's dining services. His career then transitioned to corporate dining with Guggenheimer in 2001, managing a significant account at Ingram Micro in Buffalo until 2009.
Ben joined AVI to oversee their substantial Geico account, demonstrating his proficiency in managing large-scale operations. His journey with Lessing's Hospitality Group began in 2014, managing the Moog account in East Aurora. In January 2023, Ben took on the role of AOM for Northern New York, bringing his extensive experience and dynamic culinary prowess to the forefront of the industry.
